THE JOURNAL CLUB: NOVEMBER EDITION
if you’re always preoccupied with and racing towards the next moment, what happens to the one you are in?
NOVEMBER THEME: SLOW OBSERVING
This month I encourage you to slow down and pay closer attention.
Sometimes life moves at a frantic pace and it can feel like an impossible task trying to keep up with endless to-do lists. The hectic schedules we set for ourselves often mean that a base level of anxiety, stress and a general feeling of ‘worn out’ is ever-present.
In a bid to stop ruminating on the past or worrying about the future, the focus of this month is to use the prompts to intentionally centre yourself in the ‘here and now’.
Choose a moment in your day where you can gift yourself time to slow down, to soak it all in, all the tiny details that often get missed. Grab your journal and start capturing everything you notice.
WRITING PROMPT:
Get grounded in the present moment. Write or visually create (or both): something you can see, something you can hear, something you can smell, something you can touch, something you can taste.
ART-MAKING PROMPT:
Use what you have at hand, right there and then, in the exact moment you choose to create (whatever is within reach, laying on your desk etc) don’t overthink your materials or colour choices.
MONTHLY TIP:
Remember you make the rules, there is no right or wrong way to journal creatively. Do what feels right, write and create what flows naturally. Bend and fold with the process.
INSPIRATION station:
Future journal club months will feature YOUR creations right here. Yep, we will be showcasing club member journal pages, so we can all support and inspire each other! (Be sure to tag us on Instagram use #CHHJournalClub or email us! - details below)
REMEMBER:
Think of the prompt as an opportunity to exercise your creativity, as a jumping-off point to interpret however you like, with zero pressure to create perfect art, there is no right or wrong way to respond!
I’m looking forward to seeing what you create, be sure to send me a photo of your work or tag me and use #CHHJournalClub on Instagram, and I’ll share my favourites right here inside The Journal Club.
