BUT WHAT EXACTLY IS CREATIVE JOURNALING? I HEAR YOU ASK . . .
In its most simple form, a creative journal is a notebook that you fill with the bits of your life.
It could be drawings, collage, poetry, keepsakes, song lyrics, as well as being a private space to gather your thoughts, goals, worries, to-do lists and anything else that spills over the edges of life.
It could be a sketchbook, a notebook, a repurposed old book, a scrapbook, a photo album, a handmade book or anything else you can think of.
Most powerfully, creative journaling is about giving yourself permission to prioritise ‘me time’ and getting lost in the process of creating, while finding yourself there too. It is your safe space to tune into and heal your deeper self.
Creative journaling is NOT about becoming an artist or painting pretty pages.
Mindfulness, journaling and tapping into your creativity has been proven again and again to lower stress and improve wellbeing, we’ve discovered a way to gently and beautifully combine all three.
Creative journaling is about the process of creating - not at all about the end result. The healing, the transformations, the personal growth and self-development all come from ‘how’ you use your art journal, not so much about ‘what’ you create in there.
This process is not a ‘dear diary’ style of writing and recording, it is about using journaling as a tool to foster a mind and body connection. It is about creating purposefully and with intention, it is about building habits and rituals that support your mental wellbeing and nourish your soul.
A journal is a place where you don’t have to be anything other than exactly who you are in exactly that moment - that is powerful!
