did you know just 15 minutes of mindfulness each day can significantly reduce feelings of stress and greatLY boost your wellbeing?

CREATIVITY IS ONE WAY OF PRACTICING MINDFULNESS - HERE ARE 3 SIMPLE WAYS YOU CAN IGNITE YOUR CREATIVITY TODAY

1. Get inspired

Challenge your brain and interrupt your usual patterns of thinking. Getting inspired creatively doesn’t have to mean going to an art gallery, it can be as simple as taking a walk somewhere new, listening to a personal development podcast or spending time in nature.

The secret to becoming inspired is to pay attention - to find the hidden magic in the ordinary.

Inspiration is everywhere. It’s in the patterns that surround us in ordinary life, it’s in the old and forgotten places and things, from fabric remnants to old paint peeled walls, dead leaves and flowers, tree bark and tiny shells. Look beyond the ordinary object and seek out its pattern, colour and texture, its story and its lesson.

I challenge you to train yourself to see it - to look deeper, past what you think you see. Go ahead inspiration-seeker and hunt the hidden magic.

2.  Set yourself a mini challenge

Accountability is everything and setting yourself a challenge gives you a reason to show up and do the thing! A daily challenge can often be the thing that spurs you on to break through any creative (and mental) blocks you might be experiencing.

The secret to setting a challenge you will stick to is to keep it simple, achievable and measurable.

For example this month I have set myself a challenge of committing to 15 minutes per day of creativity within my journal.

3.  Approach with a sense of play

Taking away the pressure of creating something specific and instead having fun is a great way to ignite your creativity and the perfect opportunity to get lost in flow - hello creative self care!

The secret to creative play is to remember that creativity is like a muscle the more you use it, the stronger it gets.

Grab your journal and just two or three art supplies that you don’t normally use and just start making marks on your page - don’t aim to create a finished piece of work - just see what appears, this is often when the happy accidents occur and you find something you really love.

Or another way to play with your creativity is to choose two or three art supplies you use all the time and find new ways to use them, or use them with your non-dominant hand, use them with your eyes closed. . . the possibilities are endless really!
